This course will explore your creative self and open your mind to the possibilities of working with new methods, taking risks, painting intuitively and allowing chance to create a breakthrough. Artistic originality is encouraged in a light atmosphere where “mistakes” can be turned into masterpieces. Through a process of experimentation and discovery, your personal, unique vision will be nurtured and realized. We will learn about the visual language of painting in dealing with color, composition and painting techniques. Through several tried and true methods, the process of creating a well-designed, non-objective abstract painting will be demystified. This class includes weekly demonstrations as well as critiques and individual guidance.
Online classes are uniquely structured like a mini condensed workshop in Sally Cooper's working studio.
Using the power of Zoom, you will enter a virtual classroom that is both collaborative and interactive! At the Creative Arts School, we are excited about the far-reaching potential of this tool because it enables teachers AND students to remotely participate in real-time lessons.
All registered students will receive the unique zoom link that correlates to each online course, prior to the course start date.
“Just wanted to tell you how much I enjoyed your abstract art class at Old School Square. You are an excellent teacher and very supportive of your student’s work. As a newbie to art, I really appreciated your instruction and felt that I learned a lot from each class. I was also appreciative of your encouragement and feedback. While I have taken a few courses elsewhere, none provided me the assistance I have received from you. … I look forward to future classes next winter.” —J. London, Wayne, NJ
